House Stuff

We had a bit of a big day today regarding "house stuff". We went out this morning to price out ceiling fans for our new house. We worked out that we needed 8 fans with lights, 3 without lights and 1 outdoor fan for the patio. We went to 1 place and were quoted a price of $2000 which I was very please with as I had budgeted for $2500 for the fans. Then we went to another place and got the same quote ($2000) however their fans had a 5 year warranty instead of a 2 year warranty which the other place had. So we put the 5 year warranty fans on layby. Here are the type of fans we bought...

Next we made a call to a bamboo flooring company to clarify a few things in our mind about the different types of bamboo flooring available. Finally we were ready to place our order! We have chosen to buy natural colour strand woven bamboo flooring (we were originally going to go with the carbonized one but the natural colour works better with our colour selection) and we are buying it directly from a manufacturer in China. It is working out WAY cheaper (about $25 per square metre compared to $79+ per square metre here in Australia) and the company we have bought from has free shipping to Australia. We need to pay about $500-$600 in customs tax to bring it in but that is not much at all! We are not quite sure when it will arrive...the website says about 2-5 days once they ship it but we will see what happens! Overall, we ended up spending $3100 on the flooring and we are going to lay it ourselves (well David and his dad are going to lay it!!). Here is the flooring...

Only 2 days until the big day...Mia's 1st birthday. We are going to visit her grandparents tomorrow for an early birthday celebration but her actual birthday will be spent with just the 3 of us. We are going to give her her present from her Canadian grandparents...a new bike...and go for a nice walk around the lake with it! It should be nice!!

And here is my little Canadian princess... (thanks Uncle Travis and Uncle Darcy for the shirt!!)
